And Gutierrez returns to the pits, so it's all quiewt on track with less than 15 minutes to go.
Seeing a replay of Kvyat locking up heavily into Turn 8.
@FlyingFinn: None at all. That's a power play from Horner to bring Mercedes to the negotiating table about unfreezing the engine development.
@RCC: I think their fight in Bahrain was perfectly fair. On the limit, but fair.
@forza.merc: I genuinely think whoever has the most points at the end of the season deserves it. Besides, whether you think someone deserves it or not, they'll be champion in the history books forever!
Here come the super soft tyres
I agree with those of you saying Rosberg hasn't passed Hamilton on track this year. One thing 2014 has called into question is his ability when it comes to wheel-to-wheel racing (I remember him struggling to get past JEV in Hungary). But, when you remember his drive in Canada when he nursed that car home to the finish, he's done a great job in other ways.
It's all getting a bit Mercedes in here.
Massa starts the first of the late qualifying simulation runs.
Hamilton and Rosberg both out on the super soft tyre.
@mfbull: Definitely. Rosberg has kept himself in contention and that alone means he's deserving if he wins it.
Worth remembering that in 2010 Vettel never led the world championship at any point during the season, except from when it mattered - when the last race finished.
So all this talk of deserving this and deserving that doesn't matter when you actually win it.
Unsurprisingly Massa leaps into P1, setting a 1:42.429. Bottas can't improve much on his time and stays fifth, but it looks like he may have picked up a bit of traffic.
Rosberg goes a full second quicker than Massa into P1.
Ah, replays show Bottas having a wobble through the final corner, which would explain why he was so far down.
Hamilton has a very, very messy finish to his lap and crosses the line four tenths down on Rosberg. He had gone purple in the first sector so looked like a few costly mistakes.
Raikkonen goes sixth fastest, four tenths off the time set by Alonso at the start of this session on super softs.
Alonso the only man not out on track, he did his qualifying simulation lap earlier.
I'm in complete denial about the season ending. Say it aint so, Joe.
Points to any non-baseball fan who can name the film that quote is from.
@mfbull: We will be there and doing live updates on our official Twitter acocunt.
Less than four minutes left now as the times continue to come thick and fast.
