Some light reading for you while we wait for things to get a little bit sexier out there.
@ralva8: Considering they didn't win last year it shows they are keeping their feet on the ground. Just because you are a big team doesn't mean you are owed success.
If Kvyat is doing a race simulation he's not doing it very quickly. His soft tyre laps were way off the pace and he's now switched to the medium compound.
A full Red Bull pit wall - including Christian Horner - would indicate the team is doing a race simulation.
Kvyat has switched to the medium tyre and his last lap was a 1:29.619 - which was quicker than he was lapping on the softs.
@ralva8: They're giving their best but they also appreciate how big the gap is to Mercedes. If you go into a season saying "We can win 10 races" and then don't win any, morale takes a big hit.
To compare with Kvyat, Vettel is also on mediums and his last laps were 1:29.2 before two 1:28.8s
@Shiv: We haven't seen McLaren since lunch. Button stopped on track this morning and, even though he returned for another few laps, we are yet to hear what the problem is (or if there is one)
Hamilton has gone out on track, sporting a set of medium tyres.
Bottas has taken over from Massa this afternoon, by the way.
Vettel is still out there on the mediums and just crossed with a 1:28.531.
Vettel's latest a 1:28.827. Pretty consistent stuff from the four-time world champion.
@ankur: The session finishes a 1800 local time, in just under three hours.
@Dhruv: The McLaren's isn't so tight its revolutionary, it's just a pretty radical design for McLaren. I think Red Bull's is slightly more compact..
Very little of significance to report out there.
This live is likely to be quiet for the next 25 minutes or so, I've got an exclusive chat with Carlos Sainz Jr which hopefully we can share with you in the next few days.
Hope you don't all miss me too much in that time.
Hello! Apologies for the long delay without any updates.
I was at the Toro Rosso garage chatting to Carlos Sainz Jr. Very confident young man.
Maldonado has put Lotus top of the timesheets with on a super soft tyre run.
@kiran: Not at the moment. Button is speaking to the media this evening and that'll likely be the most attended press call of the day. Lots of big questions for McLaren.
Have you even had the no calorie one? They gave me it as I left. Probably to make sure I never came back - horrid.
For those of you wondering how Bottas can do 22 laps without setting a time, these will all have bee followed by trips to the pit lane, meaning Williams has used the afternoon to do a spot of pit stop practice.
Vettel's medium times were pretty solidly around the low 1:29/high 1:28 mark. Hamilton's was in the mid-1:28 range but it's important - as always - to remember that comparing times is like asking out a really attractive lady - pointless and doomed to fail.
