Hello and welcome to ESPN's coverage of first practice for the Brazilian Grand Prix from Interglagos.
Unsurprisingly, there's little mention of the ongoing Button/Alonso situation on McLaren's official Twitter account.
At the monent, the weather is cool but there are grey patches in the sky. Predicting the weather is a very brave business indeed!
Would be fascinated to hear your views on Button himself - as a driver he seems to divide opinion quite a bit.
Driver changes for this session to tell you about: Daniel Juncadella will be running for Force India in the place of Sergio Perez, Sauber-bound Felipe Nasr is in for Valtteri Bottas once again at Williams and Toro Rosso's Max Verstappen gets his third FP1 run of 2014.
The sky looks really bleak above the Interlagos circuit. Will we see rain in this session? You wouldn't bet against it.
Those forecasts look ever so slightly ominous for today and tomorrow.
@MichaelBialocur: I did indeed Michael. Amazing how the naysayers from earlier this season missed that.
@Pavan: I don't think we'd see him back in F1, though the Haas link is an interesting one. He is known to want an experienced driver for his first season but there might be others available in 2016.
The clock is ticking - this session is under way.
There's the usual flurry of early activity as the first installation laps are completed.
That man Button is one of the first to return to the pits, where he pulls to one side at the entry to the pit lane and it seems he may have a few issues in that McLaren.
Button is wheeled over the white line, where his McLaren mechanics can come and get him. But there don't appear to be any around initially.
@AlainMichel: Personally, I think Button showed what a talent he was alongside Hamilton. If you remember, going into that season everyone was saying it was career suicide.
Looks like everything just switched off for Button as he entered Interlagos' new-look pit entrance.
Maldonado tells Lotus his ERS is not working. Maldonado comes here off the back of his first points finish of 2014, of course.
Marcus Eric$$on, I think is the official spelling. Sutil has a contract for next year, and he seems to think it's one which gives him a drive next year. This will go to the contract recognition board and it might well be a rather messy process before everything is resolved.
