Rosberg's next two sectors drop off and he can't improve on his time. He's a tenth behind Hamilton.
Alonso currently behind Raikkonen by two tenths. Despite six podiums here, Alonso has never won at Interlagos.
@Navlig_BR: Very much so!
Replay of Hamilton slowing at Laranja
, with Raikkonen coming very close to the Mercedes.
@Navlig_BR: Hamilton was pretty supreme in the wet at Suzuka.
@rocky: I think Mercedes will be the team to beat again in 2015. Such a huge advantage for teams to catch, let alone pass by next year.
@SahilShah: Hamilton deserves to.
Maldonado locks up heavily and returns to the pits.
@Phoenix: Nope. Lauda beat Prost by half a point in 1984.
Hamilton tells Mercedes the track is "really difficult to drive right now" in the current temperatures. Clear to see from replays lots of drivers are struggling.
@michaeldsouza: I'm going to say 18 because I want to see as many cars as possible.
Only three cars out on track - one of which is Gutierrez, who had some MGU-K issues earlier and missed all of FP1, too.
@guruf1: Indeed, still seventh after scoring his first points of the season in Austin.
@RohanMehta: As we saw in Austin, the qualifying format would be adjusted in whichever way necessary to ensure fairer sessions.
Button, who missed FP1 with gearbox issues, has accumulated 14 laps so far. He's making up for lost time - but Grosjean's 18 laps is the most mileage from this session.
In fact, Grosjean is the only man out on track and he just ran a little deep at Turn 1. Small lines appearing on the Frenchman's tyres.
Grosjean returns to the pits and we have a brief lull in proceedings, with all 18 cars in the garage.
@RajeshMudhiraj: Nope, Force India has confirmed he will sit out the session due to damage from Juncadella's crash this morning.
@bretth: Gene Haas said he wants an American and an experienced pilot. So Alexander Rossi has a very good chance, I'd say.
Raikkonen, Ricciardo and Sutil break the silence and head out on track.
@bretth: Indeed, it must be.
@Lineat: The team is starting to feel the effects of it's massive lack of resources compared to the teams around it.
Ricciardo has bolted on the soft tyre and goes fastest by a tenth but then runs straight across the Turn 1 run-off area.
