Knowing Ferrari tend to be faster on Fridays, and they 2s off the Silver Arrows pace, won't be surprised to see Alonso lapped on Sunday! Mercedes might as well lap the whole field!

@Marais: We will see - Bernie will make it go ahead if he can, but a Russian politician shaking hands with a Mercedes driver covered in Petronas (a company run by the Malaysian government who just opened up a fund for the MH17 victims' families) on the podium is surely a PR disaster waiting to happen.

The New Jersey race... will people be annoyed?.. shouldn't be a factor..if a certain % want it and money it'll genrate will be above average should be more of a priority. no?

@ Lebron - agreed, but how will he be replaced? Those that can have no interest in doing so while he signs lucrative races in the middle of nowhere (in motorsport terms) - it keeps the money flowing in which, for F1's owners, is the only "sport" they're interested in.

I think there is a valid point in going to new destinations - you can find the ones that will become stable F1 markets and drop the ones which fall behind in attendance. This way you create a core of successful races and a fluctuating number of "experiments"
