@Mel: I'll need to go trackside to check, but at this stage it's not really worth it. A lot of the laps are pretty slow at the moment as teams run through system checks and make sure everything is working as it should. These first days are basically about troubleshooting, the fast stuff and performance chasing comes at the next two tests.
-
@Ace: Not entirely sure what cooling holes they had before. In Abu Dhabi they had some cooling in the side of the sidepod, but that was just a rudimentary job to get the Honda engine running in last year's chassis at the end of the year (unfortunately it didn't work). However, the less obvious cooling the better, is cooling usually a trade with aerodynamic efficiency.

@TheF1Fan: As predicted - by both the team and the media - getting the new Honda power unit running smoothly is a big job. But the big thing will be how much progress they can make this week. So far we've seen three 1 lap runs and a 3 lap run. So that's progress...

Looking at the time sheets, Sauber seems to have outpaced Ferrari while Toro Rosso beating Williams. In the same light McLaren seems to be way slow like Caterhams/Marussias. Are the big teams holding back something or is it gonna be the same throughout the season?

@AnderssonOuissi: As Laurence mentioned earlier, it's too early to really make such sweeping guesses from the morning's running. There are lots of things the teams are working through here and will be for the rest of Jerez. Barcelona will be a better indication of true pace and reliability for the season.

@surendranc29: The team hasn't said anything officially, but the last thing they said was that the plan was to arrive in Barcelona with the 2015 car. There are rumours to the contrary flying around online but at the moment assume they are until we hear otherwise from Force India.

alot of people are reading way too much into the times after only 3 hrs of testing, mercedes was the most reliable in last years first test, so its no surprise they are running well now. but it doesnt mean anything for the season or the first race just yet.

@Sitank: Marussia sounded defiant several weeks ago when it cancelled a planned auction of assets crucial to its return to the grid. Since that there's been no news, however. While Marussia has a slim chance of returning I would say it's almost impossible Caterham will.

@NanDu: You can expect more laps from everybody. A few people suggesting Honda are "sandbagging" but there is absolutely nothing to be gained from doing that here. These teams have plenty of troubleshooting issues as Laurence mentioned earlier which they need to overcome today.
