Hello and welcome to ESPN's live coverage of first practice from the Sakhir International Circuit in Bahrain.
@Mohan: Hi Mohan. The most significant is that the Honda power unit is being turned up this weekend ahead of an upgraded engine in Spain.
@JamesHunt: It would be if this was a normal day race, but remember, the race starts at 6pm and is run under floodlights this year (as it was in 2014). If anything, temps will be cooler than they were in China. Vettel said yesterday the worst thing about this race for Ferrari is that the sun goes down, and he's right.
@Nicomaniac: Sorry to hear that. As with anything, the site is still being updated and improved as the season goes on. Maybe it'll grow on you with time!
@Questionaire: I don't think so. You don't just suddenly become a bad driver, Rosberg's problem is he's down on confidence in a big way.
@JamesHunt: Nothing huge. With just a week's turnaround between races, changes are usually minimal. Spain is the race where we traditionally see the first big upgrade packages as the teams have three weeks back in their factories.
Jolyon Palmer is in the Lotus this morning, in the place of birthday boy Romain Grosjean.
The lights go green and Hulkenberg leads a long train of cars out onto the track.
@Questionaire: It gets better with every race ;)
@XK140: The header scoreboard should show the local race time, GMT and your own local time. BST is British Summer Time because us Brits like playing around with clocks twice a year so we can drink more tea.
@tifosi: They did a joint press conference in China, probably so both parties couldn't throw each other under the bus after the race. It's all very uneasy, at the moment, and Renault's future is very uncertain.
@Hugh: Haha. That'll be Spain in three weeks, then.
Jenson Button has spun at the first corner. He's climbing out of the car and we have yellow flags.
Button one of the few drivers not to return to the pits after his installation lap but, seeing a replay, it seems the rear just stepped out on him as he rounds the apex.
@JamesHunt: Force India is still playing catch up from a slow start to the season. Remember, it only introduced its VJM08 in the final week in Barcelona.
@Abhishek: We've been incorporated into the ESPNUK site.
@XK140: Ok. I will pass that on to our product team. At least you know what time it is for us Poms over here, though.
Button's car has been recovered and the track is green again. Rosberg is back out on track and on a flying lap.
@f1fan: I prefer the current poll.
@AnatoledUrsel: They aren't going to win any races this year, at least not until the very end of the season at the earliest. But that doesn't mean their return is a disaster, if anything they should be praised for taking on such an ambitious long-term project as they have. They'll be back at the front, it's a matter of when not if.
Rosberg's 1:40.0777 has put him top of the session early on.
That's the twitter account for Button's power unit. McLaren is yet to confirm whether the power unit actually tweets for itself.
@Mohan: This is a strange session as its the least representative of the race conditions we will have later in the weekend, as the race starts in the evening.
