Nate, being young, I have often wondered about the future of Formula 1. I wonder if it will keep on existing. I also wonder what it will be like in 3 decades or more (electrical and silent cars, slow or faster cars, even dumber rules,...). Some times I get afraid when I see what direction F1 is taking now... what is you opinion?

@MichaelBialocur: It's always hard to predict, but I can't ever see Formula One not existing. Certainly the trend is that the cars are going to get greener, which is why Ecclestone's calls for a return to V8s seems a little ridiculous. Who knows though? Who would have thought 10 years ago they would have lost four cylinders in the engine by 2014?

There will always be spending in F1, manufacturers must win. But the real problem in F1 is not the costs, it is the lack of innovation because of the over-regulation. WEC is showing the way and F1 should follow and open up regulations so that smaller teams can compete on cleverness if not budget. Remember Brawn? 2009 wasn't that long ago. Without the double-diffuser innovation that Frankenstein's monster would have struggled for points.
