Rosberg back out on a hot lap. He's currently fourth, three tenths off the Ferrari of Raikkonen.
@Questionaire: Alexandra Daddario.
@Harish: Early days yet, remember we never know fuel loads and what sort of run plans the teams are on in these sessions.
@BE: Not quite yet! I've certainly been impressed with him, and yes I gave him a hard time last year. His spin in Malaysia was a bit clumsy and over-eager and we still have a bit of time until we can accurately judge him. Ask me again in the middle of the season and if he's still doing well I'll happily eat humble pie.
@jee1: Well, Bottas was at a disadvantage as he qualified in Australia behind Massa with his back already injured. He then had his seat altered slightly in Malaysia, and was unlucky to lose two positions on the first lap in China. Massa's done well so far this year though, I just don't think we've seen the best of Bottas yet.
@ImaRedBull: I remember that. No idea what happened to that idea. Maybe McLaren and Honda don't want to return to an iconic paint job until it's back at the front end of the grid?
Hamilton complaining about a hot seat again. Mercedes also asks him to update on his flat spot, which might explain why he's currently down in sixth.
Vettel is out of his overalls and talking to Ferrari reserve driver Esteban Gutierrez in the garage.
Hulkenberg leaps into third before Perez moves to the top of the leaderboard with a 1:38.793.
Top times: Perez 1:38.793, Raikkonen 0.124, Hulkenberg 0.394, Vettel 0.409, Bottas 0.413, Palmer 0.490, Rosberg 0.500, Kvyat 0.606, Hamilton 0.739, Ericsson 0.883.
@cyrus619: Well, they are currently first and third but as I always say you can never read much into Friday practice. The team is waiting for the arrival of its B-Spec car, which is due in Austria. Could be a painful time until then.
Hello there Mr Alonso. We have a McLaren top of the timing screens, a 1:38.598.
That didn't last long. Verstappen puts himself top of the timing screens with a 1:38.508.
@Oliver: Nope, prime tyre.
@rockedin123: I'm always sandbagging.
Let's not all get carried away now. A good lap from Alonso but the track is getting quicker and quicker and we don't know fuel loads.
Maldonado runs wide at the final corner and bounces across some gravel for good measure. I saw a fantastic meme of Maldonado this morning....
