@Prads: Rain was predicted for the weekend.
Well, you don't see that every day. A marshal scampers across the track to collect Maldonado's bodywork as Nasr's Sauber comes into view.
@Rohit: I don't know why team's can't slightly tweak car liveries for different driver. I imagine it has something to do with sponsors not wanting to give up space or colours to F1, but there could surely be a way of doing it.
Rosberg starts his first flying lap of the session. Raikkonen was within three tenths of his benchmark time in FP1.
Rosberg goes just two tenths quicker than Raikkonen. Interesting stuff. This is the hard tyre, so this isn't an indication of qualifying pace. But Rosberg said Raikkonen's middle stint in Australia had given them food for thought.
Bottas moved into fourth, four tenths down on Raikkonen.
Rosberg's next lap extends his advantage to 0.370s.
@RohanMehta: I think Toro Rosso look very strong. If you take reliability and a botched pit stop out of the equation, Verstappen and Sainz would have had a great weekend.
Merhi comes out for a run in the other Marussia.
This means only Kvyat and Hamilton are yet to venture out on track.
@RohanMehta: Indeed. A great start to the new year from Ferrari in general.
@Efranov: Not sure it's that simple! Remember, by winning this race last year Hamilton triggered a run of four in a row.
The garages have a lot of cool air pumping through them.
Hulkenberg leaps ahead of his team-mate Perez but worryingly for Force India that's only for 15th.
