Replays show Raikkonen just lost the rear end as he rounded the kerb at Ste Devote. Looks like he was pushing for a second flying lap on the supersofts.
@AM: It doesn't look too serious from the outside, other than the damaged rear left.
The session goes green again.
We've got 28 minutes of this session left.
I think Raikkonen probably had more time in those supersofts as we saw Hamilton improving with his first few laps, but there's a mighty, mighty gap separating him from the world champion currently.
@rockedin123: They won't replace Alonso and Button. Either McLaren will pay for a seat elsewhere on the grid, as Red Bull did with Ricciardo and HRT in 2011, or they will have to find another solution. It's a real head-scratcher and will be one of the interesting storylines later in the year.
@James: There are all sorts of figures floating around about Hamilton's contract and no-one is really sure what is accurate and what isn't. Hamilton is definitely now in the ballpark of Alonso and Vettel.
@rockedin123: I'd love to see it but doubt it will ever happen, can't see either man leaving their current teams considering they only just joined.
@Kimi: No word from Ferrari yet but I'd say it's unlikely.
The Mercedes drivers are now out on soft tyres.
Sainz's supersoft run puts him sixth, 1.5s down on Hamilton.
Raikkonen's little moment there seriously dents any chance he had of pole.
@Sandeep: Patience Sandeep. He didn't join McLaren to be world champion in 2015. He did it to win the title in the next four years and he thinks he has better chance at McLaren than Ferrari - that's why I think he's genuine when he says he doesn't regret the move. Ferrari is still second best and he was sick of being given a car that wasn't the best out there.
Hello there. Vettel moves to within two tenths of Hamilton with his supersoft run.
A Toro Rosso has hit the barrier, it's Master Verstappen.
Looks like he's hit the barrier at the final corner. The teenager has to continue on as he's just missed the pit lane. Replays show he completely lost the rear coming through the very slow final corner.
@BE: Very harsh. 2012 he kept himself in the lead of the championship for most of the season with a vastly inferior car. 2010 came down to a strategy call which made sense at the time but in hindsight was a disaster.
Verstappen is complaining about a damaged rear wing, looks like a similar bit of damage to Maldonado in Spain.
@Dimitri: Definitely, McLaren said as much in the build-up to the race. Looks like they might be on the cusp of Q3 on this morning's running.
Ricciardo moves into fifth on his latest supersoft run.
@James: I think Hamilton for pole but did not expect to see Vettel so close. We've seen Mercedes turn up the wick in qualifying before, however, so a Mercedes lockout with Vettel just behind is what I'll say for now.
