@Satyaban: I've always fancied him for a Marussia drive next year, given their links to Ferrari and Ferrari's links to Haas. I doubt he would have wanted to make his debut in these circumstances this weekend.
We're into the final 18 minutes.
@Phil,Maidenhead: GP3 and GP2 are both racing here.
The cars out on track now are setting about on their longer runs.
Rosberg still complaining about his strange steering column vibration when he turns into medium-speed corners.
@ashish: They haven't confirmed anything yet. Perez seems confident he is closing in on a new deal, however.
@Gaurav: Nothing has been officially said by Ferrari. Everything in the press about Alonso's contract is conjecture... and a lot of it coming from the same place which reported a Vettel/Alonso seat-swap as fact just a few days before Japan. So take everything with a pinch of salt until you hear confirmed news.
Looks like Bottas had some issues with his tyre blankets this morning, which is one I've never heard before. Appears it fried a set of his tyres.
As always, the final minutes of this session will be taken up with high-fuel runs as the team's start thinking about race set-up.
@ashish: Obviously we know there will be Verstappen. Sirotkin at Sauber looks likely, while Toro Rosso will be an interesting one - I'd love to see them give the nod to Carlos Sainz Jr, which would give them a rookie dream-team next year.
Amusing radio exchange with Vettel and Rocky just now. Vettel suggests his gearchange lights are slightly out of time and asks Red Bull to revise. Response: "We think they're right. Please stick to them."
@shailesh640: Of course, anything is possible. Both McLarens could retire in that race, as well, so that's probably why he keeps mentioning that.
Grosjean complaining about no power in his Lotus. He's still not a happy chap in that car. Mercedes power can't come soon enough.
@FlyingFinn: Turn 2 will be a really good one, I think. Long, long run down to it off the start line so plenty of time for cars to size others up for a move or late lunge.
Grosjean told Lotus he is losing three tenths in a straight line. Patience Grosjean, happier days are on the horizon...
Double-yellows briefly waved by the marshals and then taken back in again. Looks like Merhi had a bit of a spin at Turn 13.
Merhi's moment at Turn 15, not 13.
