Button's last lap was a 1:46.880. Hamilton's a 1:45.885.
@eastcoast@work: Nothing yet. It may have been me misunderstanding his Danish accent....
@FilipLevacic: Nothing to hand, no. Impossible to guess really until we see how much time the option tyre gains on the mediums this weekend.
@NalakaG: Every point is doubled. So anyone who scores a point, gets double points.
We're into the final five minutes now.
Button's last lap was just 0.03s off Hamilton's. McLaren's look very punchy in this opening session.
Merhi having a spin at Turn 13, on the exit.
@mfbull: Merhi is a member of the Mercedes-Benz junior programme. Mercedes is keen to get him some F1 experience. He's currently trailing Sainz Jr in Formula Renault 3.5. A real prospect for the future.
We're into the final minute.
Chilton says he is doing everything to keep the car in a straight line.
Exactly, I agree with Phil. Plus, Lauda is clearly Hamilton's biggest ally in the Mercedes garage. That's one hell of an ally to have.
Alonso has a wobble through the penultimate time and crosses the line just after the clock expires, meaning this session is now over.
Rosberg tops the first session by just 0.065s off his team-mate. McLaren looking handy early on as well.
Hopefully the rest of the weekend proves me wrong, but at the moment it looks like Valencia. And that's never a good thing.
I like Snore-chi. I'm going to sign-off with that I think.
Thanks as always for joining me for FP1, we will be back two and a half hours for FP2. Please be sure to come back to see how the qualifying runs pan out.
