If McLaren can't sort these issues out come race time, they'll be competing more with Toro Rosso, Force India and Sauber for the bits and pieces as opposed to giving any of the big players any sort of competition...for Alono's sake, I hope that doesn't come true but things are starting to look rather dull for them.

Nate, I am sorry but I always put Ferrari, Mercedes, RedBull and Mclaren in a different league for a simple reason that they great established structures, methods, processes and people. Nobody is saying it would be 'Plug and Play for Mclaren-Honda combine, but they could have emulated Merecedes first ever tests from a year back if ever they were looking for a benchmark. If you ask me I should be expecting them to be better coz they knew first hand half of what to anticpate first hand.

They Mclaren also had a f1 championship to contest last year! It's not like the change to Honda was the only thing on their plate. And with limited testing, it can't be easy. I bet the simulators don't simulate seals.

I agree, as muc as it's all new etc....the size, knowledge and budget of Honda and Mclaren doesn't get much better unyet it just goes to prove on paper, in design and all the theories never guarentee success until a machine is driven in anger at a racetrack......

Nate, I am not saying they will have disastrous 2015 the year ahead, I am still rooting for them as I still see them as the only genuine hope in terms of someone beating Mercs this year, simply coz they had free hand with the engine. Having said that...testing has been pathetic to say the least unless they are sandbagging and have figured it all out in simulations !

Any word regarding Renault? RBR and STR have both managed decent runs in testing. What's your opinion on their chances?

@pulk10: As a commentator shrewdly pointed out earlier, Horner told British TV the Renault PU is severely down on bhp - around 70 if he is to be believed. Maybe he's sandbagging.
