Audi even runs a Diesel engine... and it's so good, Lotus are a customer for their LMP1 entry.
WEC is a great championship and it was great to see Toyota finally come good last season. One of its strengths is that it doesn't have the same conflict we see in F1 whether it should be about the drivers or the manufacturers: manufacturers win outright there. Also, the showpiece event the Le Mans 24 hour race, also allows for much more lenient rules: the requirement to run a prototype continuously for 24 hours will concern any engineer far more than any limits a body such as the FIA can think up -

i guess that we all must wait till Sunday afternoon and the last 2 hours were all the cars will turn up their engine @ max and do some fire show ... as if they do that today or tomorrow and an engine blow that will hamper their testing program but on Sunday eve no one has something to loose so they want to find to what level they can reach and etc....

Laurence - (have corrected the spelling this time, apologies for the previous posts) | If Rosberg gets trashed this year and its not anywhere as close as last year, then I think Merc would have a problem at hand and probably should take up either Hulk or Bottas, as both of whom are just excellent options to keep Ham on his toes. (I am assuming Alonso and Hamilton is one team is an impossible thought even for Mercedes)

@mfbull: There is nothing showroom about the safety car - I've had a close look at it. But it's quick enough to do the job and it keeps us entertained on GP weekend Thursdays when Maylander does his "sighter laps" and spends most of his time going sideways through the corners.

@Rawpace: The soft and super-soft are not well suited to this track, but at some point the teams will have to run at heavy fuel on those too. Even though we all enjoy qualifying and seeing the cars on the limit, the points are earned on Sunday when the cars start the race fat with fuel. As a % the cars spend way more time per season with heavy fuel on board, so that is why the teams run heavier fuel for most of testing.

@mfbull: Both supremely confident, as you would expect. Ericsson is very keen to shake off the "pay driver" label and had some very interesting insights about his time at Caterham last year. All will be revealed however, with both features likely to run in the next week.

@JasonArellano: Lap times have been down on the rest - his last was a 1:31.091 - but given McLaren's limited running so far these laps will be about searching for reliability and putting the crucial mileage on the Honda engine. I doubt we will see a race simulation from McLaren at this stage. It's an issue-free day for the first time this winter and they'll not want to push the engine into another problem.

A few mechanical changes to the car to start the afternoon in the garage, but we're back out on track now! @nico_rosberg at the wheel! #F1by Mercedes-AMG F1 via twitter 2/27/2015 2:52:53 PM
